about

mobiustrip is an album about palindromes and Mobius strips. Each work has a relationship to a mirror image, palindrome, or Mobius strip in it, even if it is warped or very obscured.

The album consists entirely of works for large ensemble, and blends some of my more conventional and some of my more experimental large ensemble writing to date.

The writing also spans more than 7 years, from "A puzzle revealed", which was completed in 2019 to "Warped Palindrome", which was completed in 2012.

This is a completely same-genre album, in contrast to "Searching for Now", which also contains works for large ensemble. Lastly, this consists of large movements, akin to the album "Exercise Music" and contrasting again to "Searching for Now".

There is a lot to unpack in each piece, so listening multiple times is perfectly normal to get a grip on the gestures and textures. From the simple, to the complex, to the silent, these pieces pull and push my writing for large ensemble in new dimensions that grew me as a composer as I wrote each work.
